Why he founded the National School
|
In July of 2015, I founded the National School Art Collective. I did this because I saw the great value establishing an art collection in a school can have on students, faculty, artists, and a community. Together we can make sure that generations of students will have the opportunity to experience art on a daily basis. They may take with them an appreciation for the arts and in doing so we are also developing future patrons of the arts. What we do now may someday change the landscape of how the arts are viewed throughout the nation.

Facts |
James Kitchen had an interest in art at an early age. He spent most of his formative years engaged in art and athletics. In college he continued his love for art and studied art education and art history. He was fortunate to have the opportunity to student teach in Brazil and apprentice with a sculptor in Lithuania. He began his teaching career teaching art to middle school students in Ohio. A few years later he moved to Texas and continued teaching art at the high school level. While in Texas he was able to work with nonprofits that include The Woodlands Waterway Arts Festival, The Ann Marie Hopkins Art Alliance, and The Woodlands High School Art Trust. In 2014 He and his family returned to Ohio and he began finalizing the process of developing the National School Art Collective. He continues to teach students at the high school level.
